HMAS Choules departs Garden Island Defence Precinct Following Successful ACP
HMAS Choules departed Garden Island Defence Precinct (GIDP) as scheduled following the recent successful completion of her Annual Certification Period (ACP).
A&P Australia completed the ACP, which included 710 Planned Maintenance tasks, 151 Corrective Maintenance tasks and 15 Configuration Changes in just five weeks. A&P were supported by over 60 suppliers, injecting $8.7m into the local supply chain.
The annual certification work package was completed, achieving all statutory and class requirements including the Passenger Ship Safety Certificate issued by Lloyd’s Register. The programme of works also included the completion of the three-year lashing pot replacement programme and the engineering changes to increase the damage stability of the vessel at maximum cargo capacity.
Dan Tickner, Maintenance Project Manager at A&P Australia said that the project was completed on time and to budget, despite being delayed by one week due to conflicting dock activity and ship moves.
Dan said: “The unforeseen delay meant that the programme was 13 per cent behind schedule by the end of the first week of production. However, thanks to rigorous pre-planning ahead of the production period and the support of our dedicated supply chain, A&P Australia was able to recover the schedule and complete HMAS Choules’ ACP on time, allowing HMAS Choules to sail and continue her operational programme with no delay.
“A&P wish the captain and crew of HMAS Choules well as they continue their deployment. Preparations are now underway for HMAS Choules’ Annual Maintenance Period (AMP), which will commence later in 2023.”
